After Breast Cancer A New Adventure in Sustainable Living

Prior to my third breast cancer diagnosis I longed for a sustainable home and an organic garden.

My apartment had been on the market almost two years when I underwent  treatment and it was a year later it sold.

The home I brought was an old hardwood house raised off the ground.

No prior renovations had taken place so I was able to start from scratch and create an environmentally friendly home.

I have a living, breathing hardwood floor and walls were painted with no VOC paints.

When you enter the house there is a real wood smell,  lots of plants, through breezes and it feels alive.

Step by step this house is growing into a home.

Finally I have paintings on the easel and my trees are starting to grow and give fruit.

It is just over two years since I moved here and this year in particular has been such a journey in discovering a new way of living with regular workshops at Gold Coast Permaculture, the hands on learning of local permablitzs and special garden experiences such as a day at Jude Lai's Garden Paradise.

From my own renewed health through living a simpler and more natural way I see hope for our planet.

So many wonderful people are out there working towards a better world and together we can make it happen.
